S/Sgt Dale D. Watts graduated from Altona High School and attended the State Agricultural and Technical Institute at Canton, New York for two years. He was employed at the Central Islip State Hospital.He enlisted in New York City, New York on 10 August 1943. He was sent overseas April 1944.
On 3 August 1944 he was wounded by shrapnel in his right arm and hospitalized in England for two and one-half months. He returned to duty 17 October 1944.
His unit was attacking the Siegfried line under heavy fire, when he was hit by a burst of machine gun fire and killed instantly.
