Pfc Andy V. Buckner was employed at the Koppers Coal Company before he enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia on 31 March 1942. He was sent overseas in June 1944.

He was killed by small arms fire in his loin.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
