In the summer of 1944, Cpl Capriola layed seriously wounded in a hospital in England after entering France on D-day. Then the Cuyahoga Falls youth went back to his outfit. He was killed in action on the German front, just a year to the day after leaving for Europe. He drafted immediately after graduation from Cuyahoga Falls high school and last wrote home a month before his death.
