Cpl Wilson B. Barker Jr. graduated from Science Hill High School with the class of 1940 and attended college for one year. He was employed at the Jefferson Woolen Mills Company before he joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Knoxville, Tennessee on 8 August 1942.

He was first buried in the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
