Pvt Leslie A. Beattie was employed at the John Unger Brooklyn Roofing Company before he enlisted at Fort Jay, New York on 11 August 1942.

He was killed by small arms fire to his stomach.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
