Pfc Daniel Nankoff Jr. attended high school for four years and was employed at the Gannet Eastman Fleming Architect Engineers before he enlisted in Erie, Pennsylvania on 29 March 1943.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
