Pvt John T. Bodwell attended collegebefore he joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Knoxville, Tennessee on 10 December 1942. He was sent overseas in August 1944.

He was killed by a sniper.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
