Pfc Denzil L. graduated from Rockbridge High School in 1943 and attended Ohio University for one year.

He joined the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Thomas, Kentucky on 14 February 1944. He was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program (A.S.T.P.) and studied engineering at the University of Kentucky. He was sent overseas in October 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the leg.
