S/Sgt Edward Lesniak attended high school for one year and was a cook when he joined the National Guard in Holyoke, Massachusetts on 16 January 1941.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his back.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.

His two brothers served with the U.S. Marines.
