Pvt Franklin C. Jess worked on a farm before he enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 31 March 1944.He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
He is remembered at the Limestone Cemetery in Graytown, Ottawa County, Ohio.
His brother Harmon T. Jess is buried at Brittany American Cemetery, France.
