Pfc Louis Kaplowitz attended high school for two years and was employed at the White Motor Company before he enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 17 April 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his chest.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
