Pfc Alfred C. Ligammari attended high school for four years and was a plumber, gas fitter and steam fitter at the Oldbury Electro Chemical Company before he enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 24 July 1944. He was sent overseas in January 1945.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his chest.
