Pvt Willard S. Oliver attended high school for two years and was a driver before he enlisted at Ford Devens, Massachusetts on 20 April 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his leg.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
