T/Sgt Maurice E. Young attended high school for two years and was a plumber, gas fitter and steam fitter before he enlisted in Springfield, Massachusetts on 18 March 1941.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his leg.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
