Pfc Robert B. Kuhl attended high school for four years and was employed at the Pageton Pocahontas Coal Company before he enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia on 28 August 1942.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in his chest.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
