Pvt Mathias Sigmann attended high school for four years and was a shipping and receiving clerk before he enlisted in New York City, New York on 5 December 1942.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments on his scapular.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
