Pfc Joseph R. Giglio attended high school for three years and was employed at the Stillman Shoe Company before he enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 6 May 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his ribs.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Andilly, France.
