Pvt Charles A. Sweitzer attended Greensburg High School and Miami University and was a machinist apprentice at the W.W. Bliss Company of Salem before he enlisted in Akron, Ohio on 24 July 1943. He was sent overseas in August 1944.

He is remembered at the Hope Cemetery in Salem, Columbiana County, Ohio.
