Pfc Fernando S. Meza attended high school for two years and worked on a farm before he enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 11 November 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments to his face and neck.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
