Pfc Edmund J. Thibault attended high school for two years and was a sport instructor and sport official before he enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 13 March 1941.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
