Sgt Raymond L. Blanchard attended high school for three years and was a driver for the New York Cash Market before he joined the National Guard in Springfield, Massachusetts on 16 January 1941.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
