Pfc Arnold M. Ryden attended Alta High School for four years and was employed at the U.S. Engineers before he enlisted at Camp Dodge Herrold, Iowa on 6 April 1943.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
