Pfc Fred Holland worked on the family farm.

He enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia on 27 August 1943.

In January 1945 he was severely wounded in action by artillery shell fragments in the abdomen. He died of his wounds on 2 February 1945. The exact location where he died is not known.
