Pvt Carl L. Wabbel was a construction worker, employed by James T. Clements, before he enlisted in Sacramento, California on 17 June 1942.

He died of wounds in the thorax and lumbar cord, caused by small arms fire on the day of his death. At that time his unit was fighting in the vicinity of Sauceray - St. Dié, France.
