Pfc John M. Miney was unemployed before he enlisted at Camp Perry, Ohio on 13 March 1943.

From May 1944 until June 1944, he was hospitalized in Italy for wounds in the neck, caused by artillery shell fragments.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the thorax.
