Pfc John G. Poraczky attended Johnstown Catholic High School and was a utility man employed by the Coney Island Restaurant.

He enlisted at Camp Wheeler, Georgia on 14 October 1943.

In August 1944, in France, he was hospitalized for wounds at his lips, caused by artillery shell fragments. He was discharged from the hospital in September 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
