Pfc Francis J. Kilmer attended La Salle High School and was employed by the Gilman Fanfold Co.

He enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 28 December 1943.

He was reported severely wounded in action by artillery shell fragments in the spine, trunk and leg in December 1944 and died of his wounds on 11 January 1945. The exact location where he died is not known.
