Pvt Houston E. Tindel attended high school for four years and was a filling station attendant, before he enlisted at Camp Blanding, Florida on 2 November 1943.

He was hospitalized in Italy from May 1944 till June 1944 for wounds at the abdominal wall and leg, incurred during a baseball game.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the abdominal thorax.
