Pfc Theodore P. Merling was a bartender.

He enlisted in Baltimore, Maryland on 28 August 1943.

From August 1944 to September, he was hospitalized in France for wounds at his head caused by artillery shell fragments.

In December 1944 he was wounded again by artillery shell fragments in the buttock and hip, and released from hospital in January 1945.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.
