Pvt William T. McGuiness graduated from James Madison High School before he enlisted in New York City, New York on 1 September 1944.He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the head.
Five days later, on 20 March 1945, his brother, Sgt George McGuiness, tail gunner with the 701st Bomber Squadron, was reported missing in action after his plane went down over the North Sea in the vicinity of Helgoland, Germany. He is remembered on the Walls of the Missing at the American Military Cemetery and Memorial of Margraten.
