S/Sgt Arthur Sylvester attended high school for four years and was a welder.

He enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 1 July 1942 and was sent overseas on 26 June 1944.

S/Sgt Sylvester was hospitalized from October 1944 to November for a furuncle at the wrist.

He was killed by small arms fire in the thorax.
