Pvt William E. G. Waddell graduated from Radford High School in 1928 and had been employed at U.S. Coal and Coke Company in Gary, West Virginia.

He enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia on 13 January 1944.

Pvt Waddell was killed by artillery shell fragments in the arm.
