T/5 Francis X. Riel graduated from the St. Patricks Parochial School and was a student at the Mynclerse Academy in Seneca Falls.
He enlisted in Rochester, New York on 18 March 1943 and trained at Camp Davis, North Carolina. He was sent overseas on 24 February 1945.
He was killed by small arms fire in the head.
