Pfc Francis P. McNeil attended high school for four years and was a salesman employed by the Western Auto Supply Co.

He enlisted in Providence, Rhode Island on 11 December 1942.

In January 1945 he was wounded by small arms fire at his fingers.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the thigh.
