Pfc Donald C. Pollock grew up in the National Orphans Home in Wyandot County, Ohio after the death of his parents.

He was unemployed when he enlisted in New York City, New York on 8 March 1943.

On 21 November 1944, he died in the hospital from pneumonia, while he was treated for his wounds at his ribs, spine and trunk caused by artillery shell fragments. The exact location where he died is not known.
